Problem:
Scissor grabs, used to remove hinge pins from tubs at the
Caterpillar Tractor Company in York, PA, USA could not get a grip unless a few top pins were first removed manually. The grabbing and lifting process was slow, cumbersome and costly.
Solution:
After a study, Eriez
SafeHold®
permanent lifting magnets, which can be turned on and off, were installed on the whole pin processing line. Lifts were quicker, holds were more secure and the whole lines' production increased. Magnets could also properly position the heavy pins on various machines for different operations.
